Thoughts on Voting

As I voted today on local issues, I reflected on how voting affects my passion, bird hunting.  My dad always told me that voting earns you the right to complain- no vote, don't complain (you didn't earn the right). Also, we see initiatives across the country on the ballot all intended to restrict, in some way, our sport.  Some of these sound innocuous and certainly reasonable, but then grow in to the monster of restricting access to hunting grounds, or access to guns or ammunition, all the way to restricting the training of dogs and the taking of game!  It will never happen here, right? Guess again.  I am not an alarmist, nor am I a conspiracy buff, nor do I see a gubmint agent under every bush.  I do see "educated idiots" in Washington and your state capitol potentially drafting laws that will curtail your freedom to hunt with a dog and a gun.  VOTE and stay aware of what the knuckleheads are doing in your state.
